This weekend was packed full of local product demos. On Friday we had Simply Suzanne Granola, and on Saturdays customers got to try samples of Thomas Organic Yogurt and Ice Creams, plus a recipe made with Al Dente pasta and Mucky Duck Dressing.

Western Market now carries an Italian delicacy beyond compare. From Giovanni’s Appetizing Food Products in Richmond, Michigan we have Eggplant Caponata. This provincial Italian appetizer can be served surrounded by crisp vegetables. It is an excellent side dish to fish, tastes great in scrambled eggs with mozzarella, and is also a great spread for garlic toast.

Roosevelt Kids Give Green Grocery Bags to Western Market Customers In order to spread community awareness about Earth Day, the students at Roosevelt Primary decorated paper grocery bags to give to Western Market customers. On Wednesday April 20, Western Market co-owner Steve Selvaggio went to the school to pick up the bags and talk with the youngsters about saving the planet.

On Sunday a Green Fundraiser Store representative will be at Western Market to demonstrate the first product we will be carrying, the Max Air Composting Bucket.
