Bakery

The smell of fresh-baked cookies, pies, muffins, and donuts fills the aisles of Western Market each morning.  We also carry several varieties of breads, rolls and buns.  Plus fun items like brownies, pastries, cakes, and scones.  Our signature brand of frosted cinnamon raisin bread is very popular. Other favorites include our fresh-baked ciabatta, pumpernickel, sourdough, Vienna, Challah and Tribecca breads.  And the crème de la crème of the bakery department is our dessert case, which features an ever-changing variety of sweet treats, including seasonal items.

Easter Sunday is just around the corner, and we have everything you need to celebrate the holiday.  If you’re hosting Easter dinner, make sure to pick up a Dearborn Ham- only $3.99 per pound for a limited time.  And for dessert?  How about Western Market’s freshly baked 8” apple pie?  Right now, it’s on sale for $3.99.  To brighten up the table, we have many fresh Easter plants and bouquets starting at $4.99.  If you’re looking for something to cure that sweet tooth of yours, we have colorfully bright Lofthouse frosted sugar cookies.  Right now they are on sale- 2 packages for $5.00.  If you’re looking for something to line that Easter basket, jelly beans are the perfect sugary morsel.  You can buy them at $2.29 per pound (many containers are less than $2).  We have plenty to choose from, from Sanders chocolate bunnies, to Reese’s mini peanut butter cups.  Make sure to stop by before Sunday, as we will be closed for the holiday.  Whatever your plans are for Eastern, have a happy and healthy one!

It's Thanksgiving!

The holiday season is upon us!  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, which means there’s not much time left to get all you need to over-feed your loved ones.  We have plenty of items in stock and on sale for your dinner table, and for the rest of your home.  We will be closed all day on Thursday, but will be open on Friday from 8am until 6pm.

St. Patrick’s Day is almost here, and that means we’re going greener than usual!  Our Prepared Foods department is serving up Corned Beef & Cabbage- a staple at many an  Irish American table during this holiday.  Turn your sweet tooth green with our shamrock-themed cookies and cupcakes, then wash it down with some Guinness!  We also have Sy Ginsberg’s and Grobbell’s Corned Beef on sale for $3.99 / lb.  We definitely have you covered this St. Patty’s Day!  If you decide to wander around this weekend, please be careful and have fun!

Recipe: Baked French Toast

It’s brunch time!   Growing up, Sunday was always a huge brunch spread at my house.   Bagels, lox, cream cheese, eggs and onions, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, and the always infamous deli tray.  I was in Ann Arbor yesterday stocking up at Zingerman’s and noticed THE loaf of bread.  That’s right, chocolate studded challah!   Oh it was so on.

I could handle this a few ways.  A panini with Nutella and bananas, right out of the bag with some sweet cream butter, or baked french toast.  I’m going with the french toast.

According to my daughter Dylan, this was double yummy!
